Here's President Obama's 2nd Inaugural Address. Read it in its entirety, highlighting his main points from your perspective.

Now, put yourself in his shoes. It's the year 2018. You're the new President! What will you say to the nation?

Spell out:

1/ Your inaugural theme for the next 4 years (Obama's seems to be "We the People")

2/ What are the 4 main "goals" you want the millions watching to take away with them?

3/ Who do you want to sing the National Anthem?

  8. 1. My inaugural theme for the next for years would be “Foreigners Will Be Jealous”
    2. Four main goals I would focus on:
    • I would want to make people feel extremely proud to be an American and find a way to relate something positive to everything.
    • I would want people to realize that they can be whatever they want to be. All they have to do is go do it.
    • We need to do something about the debt and we also need to stop outsourcing so many companies with jobs because WE need them, and stop giving so much money to all the other countries poor, because there are plenty of poor here in America that could use that help also, so why wouldn’t they be a number one priority?
    • I also want people to feel safe and just know that I would try to fix all of the corrupt things I have discovered about our government while growing up.
    3. I would want Lana Del Rey to sing the National Anthem at my inauguration.

  10. 1. My Inaugural theme, I feel would also be leaning towards “We the People.” I would tell the people that we need much more unity, because there can be no moving forward as a nation if everyone doesn’t share a common goal, or at least assist in the nation’s success.
    2. My 4 main goals:
We need to lower the rich to poor people ratio
    We need more unity
    We need more jobs
We need to make better use of our money in terms of executive financial decisions
    3. I would like Beyonce and Robin Thick to sing the National Anthem.
    -Ali Coker

  11. 1. The theme for my inauguration would be “Keeping America American”.
    2. The Four main points I would focus on would be:
    • Protecting the rights of the constitution from being violated or infringed upon by the federal government including the second amendment. Remove any existing laws the hinder law abiding citizens from owning and carrying a firearm and also remove any types of restrictions on semi-automatic firearms and high capacity magazines.
    • Focus on lowering the national debt and stop providing financial aid to foreign countries and focus that money on improving the United States economy. Also perform total of review of the United States budget and make cuts where necessary. Also have a review performed on the welfare system and make cuts to it where necessary and put measures in place that prevents the welfare system from being abused so easily. Raise taxes on companies that outsource jobs to foreign countries and help improve the job market here in the United States.
    • Focus on the lowering of crime rate in the United States and propose harsher sentences on repetitive and “career criminals”. Also provide harsher penalties for illegal immigrants that enter the United States.
    • Emphasize the goal our four fathers had when they founded this country. Stop the removal of God from our schools, community, and society all together. Focus on keeping the “American Dream” alive in the sense that with hard work and good morals you can be successful in this country. I would also improve federal grant and scholarship programs where available.
